Welcome to the California Military History Online blog. 

For those of you who don't know me, I am Dan Sebby, Director and Curator of the California State Military Museum in Sacramento, California. 

In the early 2000's, the explosion of new media left cultural history museums wondering how to exploit this new people's media.  Such museums as the Australian War Memorial, the British National Army and Imperial War Museums, and the Smithsonian Institution have jumped into cyberspace with both feet. 

The new media's world of blogs and social networking sites such as MySpace, FaceBook, and Twitter will never replace the museum's quarterly newsletters or websites.  Instead, they augment those traditional means of communication and hopefully get our message out to the younger, internet savvy generations. As we gain technical expertise, and more importantly staff to keep input current, we will expand our presence in the new media world. 

This blog will contain news from the California State Military Museum, statewide military history events, and general musings by myself.
